The concert is a result of an increased awareness of Indigenous people, brought to light through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission - our humble way to increase awareness of, and support for First Nations.

The journey of Truth and Reconciliation is far from over.

Joining EdMetro Chorus for this event will be outstanding Indigenous performers, including Warrior Women (Matricia Brown and Mackenzie Brown), and Sila Singers (Jenna Broomfield and Malaya Bishop). 

The event includes a tribute to the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls:

Art installation presented by the REDress Project - organized by Mufty Mathewson;

A Flower Remembered - lyrics written by Trudy Grienauer - former member of EdMetro Chorus; and

Painting (above) Still Dancing, by Jonathan Labillois, member Listuguj Migmaq First Nation.

This is the first year Matricia has been a guest instructor for drum making! Although in previous years the students have watched performances and tried out drumming for themselves, this class will allow the students to make their own drums and go through the process of writing their own songs.

Matricia will be part of a school celebration for Aboriginal Day. Drumming, singing, and an Anti-bullying message for the students, this is the second annual celebration.

Warrior Women will be singing, drumming, and sharing their culture with a delegation of tour bus operators from Japan, the promotion is highlighting the new Museum and the cultural diversity that Edson Alberta can share!

Come join us later in the evening from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Pyramid Lake Resort, on the Pyramid Lake Road, as Matricia and Mackenzie Brown present an unforgettable experience involving First Nations drumming and storytelling around the fire!

Mackenzie has 3 acrylic wolf painting, and Matricia has a “Polar Bear” beaded breastplate on display

Mackenzie and Matricia are privilaged to be singing O Canada for this fundraiser!

Celebrate Alberta Culture Days with the last Rotary Sundays in the Park concert of the season. Warrior Women will be on stage at 1:45 pm!

Join us in an evening celebrating our nominees in the Arts and Culture fields of Edson, Mackenzie is nominated for “Young Artist” and Matricia is nominated for “Artist for the Arts award”

Matricia will be sharing drum songs, cultural views, and opinions on the Federal governments decision to allow inappropriate infrastructure development

Come join Matricia as she conducts the local singers through a variety of repertoire with Rosie Kilgannon and Michelle Stewart as the other conductors. This choir enjoys two annual concerts and several community appearances as well.

Matricia will be spending her early afternoons with the students of Mrs. Davenport’s grade 7 class as they learn the methods of Aboriginal Loom Beading! This is the third year Matricia has been a guest instructor at the school in previous years the students have beaded lanyards and belts, this year they are beading Medicine Bags

Mackenzie and Matricia will be part of the opening ceremonies by performing "O Canada" Cree Style

Matricia will be facilitating craft workshops along with some drumming and singing for the staff and student for Aboriginal Day!

Matricia will facilitate a ceremony waking the school drum that was made and painted by the students in the Art class with a song written by the students in the music class

Drumming on the beach, and exploring the celestial influence on Aboriginal Culture. Attendees are from the Dark Sies Media Event.
